How can we help?
Answers about Live Journal, Backtesting, Prop Firms and Analytics.
Getting started
What is mysetuplap?
A personal trading evidence system: Live Journal, Backtesting and Analytics all read the same trade data, so what you prove in a backtest and what you actually trade live are never two disconnected numbers.
Is mysetuplap free?
Basic is free forever — up to 10 trades, Dashboard and Trade Log. Premium ($9.99/month) and Golden ($149 one-time, lifetime) unlock unlimited trades, Backtesting, Playbook, Prop Firm Tracking and full analytics.
Do I need a prop firm account to use this?
No — Live Journal and Backtesting both work without one. Prop Firm accounts are only needed if you want mysetuplap to track a funded/evaluation account's balance, drawdown and phase progression for you.
Live Journal
How do I log a trade?
From Live Journal or the Dashboard, click "Log trade." Pick the account it belongs to, the pair, your setup and confirmation, the result (Win/Loss/B.E.), and your risk% or RR — the P&L sign is set automatically from the result, you never type a minus.
Can I attach screenshots to a trade?
Yes — each trade supports before-entry, higher-timeframe and result screenshots, uploaded directly on the log form and viewable later in gallery or list view.
What's the difference between R and net P&L?
Net P&L is the real dollar result in the account's currency, after commission. R is the trade's outcome expressed as a multiple of your risk (a win at 2RR is +2R; any loss is -1R; break-even is 0R) — it's what lets you compare performance across accounts of different sizes.
Backtesting
How is Backtesting different from Live Journal?
Backtesting is fully independent of live accounts — no lots, commission, live balance or drawdown. You log the pair, setup, result and RR, and R is derived from that alone. It's for proving a setup's edge before ever risking it live.
Can I backtest without owning a funded account?
Yes — Backtesting never requires an account. It's designed to work before you have one, so you can validate a setup with sample size before you risk anything.
Prop Firms & Accounts
How does mysetuplap track drawdown?
Every account stores its max drawdown and daily drawdown limits. As you log live trades, mysetuplap computes your running balance, DD used, and flags a breach automatically — you don't calculate it by hand.
What happens when an account passes a phase or gets funded?
You log the progression event (Phase 1 passed, Phase 2 passed, Funded) from the account page. Status and phase then control which section of Prop Firms & Accounts the account appears under automatically — you never move it by hand.
Is Account Size the same as Current Balance?
No — Account Size is the fixed starting amount set when you create the account and never changes. Current Balance moves with every trade you log. P&L is always Current Balance minus Account Size.
How do I log a payout?
From an account's page, add a payout with the date, amount and status (Requested/Pending/Paid). Payouts roll up into your Prop Firms & Accounts summary and your account history.
Playbook
What is the Playbook for?
It's where you define what a valid setup actually looks like — entry rules, invalidation, minimum RR, required confirmations and a checklist — separately from logging trades. Live and backtest trades can then be checked against it for rule compliance.
What are Setups, Confirmations and Tags?
Setups and Confirmations are the vocabulary you pick from when logging a trade (e.g. "Asia Mid Range," "CHOCH") — you define your own list. Tags mark individual trades (e.g. "A+," "FOMO") for later filtering and review.
Analytics
What does Analytics actually show?
Best and worst setups, sessions and pairs ranked by expectancy and win rate, combining live and backtest data. Every breakdown is exportable, so you're never stuck reading a chart you can't take with you.
Does Analytics combine live and backtest trades?
Yes, by design — Analytics reads from both, so a setup's real track record is judged on everything you've logged, not just live trades or just backtests in isolation.
Tools
What does the Position Calculator do?
It sizes an entry from your account balance, risk % and stop distance, so you get a precise lot size before you enter — instead of eyeballing it.
Can I export my data?
Yes — trades and account history export to CSV from their respective pages, and account activity has a PDF report option.
Account
How do I reset my password?
From Settings → Security, enter your current password and a new one. If you're locked out entirely, contact support from the Contact page.
Can I delete my account and all my data?
Yes — Settings has a permanent delete option that removes your login and every account, trade, backtest, playbook entry and journal note. It cannot be undone, and it asks for your password to confirm.
Billing
How does billing work?
Billing runs on Sifalo Pay — coming soon. Until it's live, every account is on the free Basic plan; there's no charge and nothing to cancel.
